In the GT300 class, the No. 46 S Road MOLA Z
driven by Masataka Yanagida was the fastest qualifier with a lap time of 2 min.
10.356 sec.
The qualifying for the SUPER GT INTERNATIONAL
SERIES IN MALAYSIA, Round 4 of the 2009 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, was held at
the Sepang Circuit (lap = 5.542 km)
in Malaysia on June 20. In the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R (No. 3), Satoshi Motoyama won
his third straight GT500 class pole position after Round 2 at Suzuka and Round
3 at Fuji Speedway. With this, the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R will start from the front
position on the first row in the race on the 21st.
Having won the last round, the MOTUL AUTECH GT-R driven by Motoyama was
carrying an additional 40 kg
in handicap weights but still managed to run the 5th fastest time in the first
qualifying session.
Then in the ensuing Super Lap (run one machine at a time by the fastest 8
qualifiers from the first session to determine the starting grid for the race),
Motoyama bettered his first session time by an impressive 1.8 sec. to record a
1 min. 58.142 sec. lap. Eventually, none of his rivals were able to equal this
time, giving him his third consecutive pole position.
This marked Motoyama's fourth pole position in GT500 competition.

"GT Trophy" awarding announced right before Rd.4 - Sepang |

On June 18th at a hotel
located in Sunway of Malaysia, designated as the Official Hotel for the GT
Round 4 held in Sepang, the trophy for each class of the SUPER GT taking part
in this event were announced just before the opening of the very special
weekend.
Alongside was another
announcement made regarding the "Kids Walk" held during the said
event, an effort being promoted by the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sport
with the declaration of, "Take the students to the motor sport", also
inviting 1000 Malay youths to attend on Saturday.
In the press conference was the presence of Representative Director Masaaki
Bandoh of the GTA, Mr. Ahmand Razlan Ahmad Razari the CEO of Sepang
International Circuit, Andre Lotterer (No. 36 PETRONAS TOM'S SC430) on behalf
of all the drivers, and also the Sepang SUPER GT Queens. Then, a TV-interview
followed right after (Photo-right), which speaks for the large amount of
attention drawn to SUPER GT among the local public.
Just before start of the important race weekend, Sepang International Circuit
today saw many large sets of equipment delivered and carried in to setup
grounds for another round of spectacular battling to unfold, with electrifying
sense of intensity and excitement felt all about the air!

For the third consecutive
year, Longines is the official timekeeper for the racing at Royal Ascot. The
Swiss watchmaker, with its well known slogan “Elegance is an attitude”, was
also a partner in the fashion show that was held during Royal Ascot week this
year. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the uncontested Bollywood star and the brand’s
Ambassador of Elegance for the past 10 years, lit up the racecourse with her
radiant presence. In between interviews and photo sessions, the film star
managed to find time to admire the creations modelled in the Royal Ascot
Fashion Show and to watch some racing in the afternoon. During the gala dinner
in the evening Aishwarya Rai Bachchan revealed to Longines’ guests and the
press three new ladies’ models from the Longines Master Collection.
